Featured Projects
PSC.gov US Department Of Health And Human Services.
In 2011, I was employed through a contract agency to work on a revised website for the US Government's Program Support Center. The Program Support Center facilitates operations within the government by providing key links to products and services.
My role was to modify PHP and MYSQL code for the off-the-shelf Magento shopping cart system as well as manipulate front end html, javascript, and css code to skin various parts of the project.
As the website has not yet been made public I am withholding any pictures.
Mitsubishi Motors
In 2011, in conjunction with an advertising agency, I played a key role in the development of a Landing page and a Facebook page for Mitsubishi Motors.
Mitsubishi Motors 2011 Outlander Family [ external link ]
I developed the HTML, CSS, and jQuery (javascript) for this site, and coordinated with the agency and the media producers to get it all together before the air date of various television and media campaigns.
The site is very media intensive, and has a cool 'map' interface for navigating media. Be sure to click on the cars for the 3D rotating product view.
Facebook Page for the new Mitsubishi i [ external link ]
A fantastic new electric car from Mitsubishi. I did a lot of CSS, HTML, and Photoshop work to get the Facebook page looking shiny.
Note: While I did work on some of the images for these sites, the agency provided most of the graphics. I worked with them to ensure that graphics were high quality and low bandwidth, and to ensure cross platform compatibility.
Gannett Media Technologies, Inc.
In 2010, I was employed by Gannett Media Technologies Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia. Gannett is the publisher of the USA Today as well as hundreds of other media related websites, television and radio stations, and associated publications.
My role was to oversee the upgrade of key social media components that were integrated with all of the websites for all of Gannetts offerings.
I wrote wrapper code for various social media APIs and developed components for the content management system which would allow storage of profiles and blog posts and photo uploads for users of the sites.
I will add some images for this project as time permits.
Litehouse Foods, Inc.
In 2009, I developed several web contests for Litehouse in conjunction with their marketing department. These contests feature licensed characters from recent, well-known motion pictures and DVDs.
For copyright reasons and for the integrity of these online contests, only the thumbnails are available through this site.
In these projects I acted as software and database developer and provided minimal graphics development. I did not design these specific characters.
Any characters displayed are the exclusive copyright of their creators and / or parent companies.
MetaCrafters
In 2002 and onward, I created a development company for websites, databases, graphics, and 3D virtual environment design. On the MetaCrafters site, users can sign up and participate in a realtime 3d environments, perfect for learning, entertainment, and in the case of many, an excellent platform for business.
Earlier Projects
The links below will allow you to browse screenshots of websites I have developed and managed throughout my career in Information Technology.
Northwest Dairy Association
Information and communication system for dairy farmers. Used daily by several hundred dairy farmers to review data on business output as well as physical health characteristics of livestock. Features extensive use of charting and database access to provide a variety of useful reports to the farmer.
Darigold
An attractive Consumer Products website that delivers in-depth nutritional information on over 100 products. As a value added service to the web visitor, includes a recipe database with built in search capability.
STATCENTER
Developed an extensive online system allowing players of amateur sports to enter their stats and see online reports.
Westfarm Foods
Information and communication system for Washington's second largest privately owned corporation.
Planet Of The Heads
Online service for development of interactive graphical characters and software related to their use.
Inland Empire Components
Developed the initial version of the site, including an online product catalog and search engine.
Copyright Information
The information and images related to websites I have previously developed and managed are provided only to establish credibility and experience. All websites, iconified screenshots, and other associated images are the exclusive property of their respective copyright holders.
3D Virtual World
The image above is from the MetaCrafters 3D Virtual World. This is a project I have been working on for the past several years.
Within this interactive, realtime environment, users can connect online, communicate and collaborate.
The platform makes use of C#.NET, Visual Studio 2008, UDP protocol, XML parsing, PHP5, MySQL, and many other technologies to deliver on an immersive online virtual reality experience.
I manage multiple servers (Windows and Linux), create BASH scripting, develop client and server applications, and oversee networking to deliver on this experience.
Code Samples
This section contains code samples written by me, in a variety of formats and languages. Later, I plan to convert these to tutorials, and add some more useful information, or have fully functional frameworks here. For now, I have simply accumulated some of my recent developments, and constructed some code to demonstrate my methodology.
This is a work in progress, I will be updating this regularly along with the rest of my site. If something is not immediately to your liking, feel free to let me know and I will consider it in future revisions of this document.
Javascript
This example sets up a poll which requests information from a php backend. The php backend is a proxy which parses xml feed data and returns the latest headline.
- This example requires no frameworks or additional libraries, simply a document with a proper div and a script tag
- If new data appears on the server, this code would populate the document elements with the announcement data, and make the announcement visible.
- it is written to be referenced externally in it's own .js file.
- A working demonstration of the system can be arranged upon request.
Source Code
PHP
CSS Sprite Button Generator
This example demonstrates some basic php OOP principles around the concept of a button generator.
The code allows for definition of a button, colors, size, and other properties. An instance of the class will allow the user to generate the image file, the css for rollovers, and the html to add the button to the page.
It's useful for rapidly creating a navigation system with graphics. The graphics can then be imported into photoshop and customized. The math and position for the various states is already handled.
Two functions were used from the php.net website which allow for centering the text on the button.
Source Code
C#.NET
These files constitute a small system which can be used to construct a DICT client. DICT is a little known protocol which serves definitions over the internet.
Note: certain lines may or may not be removed from these files to preserve the integrity of the 'originals'. If you are a serious employer and require the 'originals' or latest versions, we can discuss that.
- Basic demonstration of inheritance, class handling, and event handling
- socket class demonstrates proper handling of internal and external properties
- highly efficient asynchronous socket class is very reusable for many clear text protocols
- This is a unique demonstration, there are no other C# DICT clients.
- I plan shortly to update this example with some more advanced parsing. It is largely to demonstrate the socket client class and general coding principles.
SQL / Transact SQL
Here are some samples of embedded SQL code from PHP.
create table
select
insert
update
delete
Flash Gallery
Recently, I was trained in the use of Adobe Flash CS3 as well as ActionScript 3. I am in the process of creating some examples to demonstrate my skills with this platform. I am doing this quickly to demonstrate general knowledge of Flash to prospective employers, so I will start with some basic examples, and gradually work up to more sophisticated examples as time permits.
Banner Example
A rudimentary example demonstrating frame based animation and motion tweening.
Combined SWF Library Example
I combined two SWFs and imported them into the library to produce this example. As the remainder of this website demonstrates my capabilities with graphics, I didn't expend a great deal of time making it look perfect.
jQuery Samples
This section contains samples which implement jQuery for various tasks.
Visibility Example
Simple example using jQuery's animated 'show' and 'hide' functionality on a DOM element.
CSS Sprites Navigation Example
Demonstrates the use of jQuery to create a CSS-driven navigation with the four basic button states. Uses CSS Sprites, which leverage a single graphic for the entire menu - reducing bandwidth usage and ensuring proper loading of the menu.
MetaCrafters Brochure
Print brochure for my new 3D Virtual World service from MetaCrafters, a virtual business I developed.
DVD Case
Printable cover for a DVD case design. I used previously when mailing this resume or other productions. Created using HTML and jpeg images.
Click on the image for the full size version. Note: Proper printing on a personal computer requires legal A14 paper, a printer that supports specifying longer paper stock, and may require some cutting.
Other Examples
This section contains links to other samples of my work.
Proposal Sample
This is a proposal I created for a client. The proposal was distributed to members of the board on CD-ROM. It demonstrates the planning and information process I follow when gathering information for developing a project.
